6 mars Bad earthquake Strikes.Today is the first time I feel the big earthquake
in reality, that doesn't mean this is the first earthquake I've ever
experienced, The one I had memory is in Yanlin county, when I was in primary
school, I missed one that everybody felt in the university in 1999 because I was
in a bus at that time. This one is by far the biggest.
I was sitting in a meeting room with many
colleagues, having a conference call with our US colleagues, suddenly, I felt
the chair is somehow moving back and forth, and the initial feeling was maybe
somebody is touching my chair, but then one colleague asked " Is this an
earthquake?". I looked at everyone, everybody was quiet. We realized it is an
earthquake. During lunch we felt it again.
With the very advanced communication channel
nowadays, a sms was sent to one of my colleagues who is Indonesian Chinese,
there was a 6.3 degree earthquake happened in Indonesia, at
Sumatra.
It's a little bit odd that no one really evacuate
in the office we were visiting, some said because this type of feeling is so
normal to Taiwan people. It's really hard to imagine that Taiwan get earthquakes
at this magnitude very often, and even under this kind of conditions, they can
still built so many fabs and tall buildings.
Many bad things happen in these days, massive snow
in North China, and then this earthquake, hope my family is doing ok in China.
Afterall, safety and peaceful life is most important. |
